Abdullah Gül University (AGU) has ranked among the top 200 universities in the world and has added a new one to its international achievements. This achievement comes from the recognition of AGU's international accomplishments in the 2023 Social Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), which is considered one of the most prestigious higher education assessment organizations.
The announcement took place at the Global Sustainable Development Congress in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, where THE listed 1,591 universities from 112 countries in Social Impact Rankings.
AGU ranked in the 101-200 range among all universities worldwide in the ranking which was prepared taking into account the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
AGU proudly stands as the second-highest ranked university in Türkiye after İstanbul Technical University (ITU), followed by Middle East Technical University (101-200), Hacettepe University (201-300), Yıldız Technical University (201-300), Erciyes University (301-400), Özyeğin University (301-400), and Sakarya University (301-400), respectively.
Ranking 28th in the category of No Poverty (SDG 1), 74th in Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), and 98th in Quality Education (SDG 4), AGU has increased its performance by six points compared to the previous year, thanks to numerous activities and projects that contribute to the society.
Moreover, being the sole Turkish university featured on this list, AGU ranked 15th in the 2023 WURI Global Top 100 Innovative Universities ranking, created by the Hanseatic League of Universities and announced in HLU Conference held at Florida Gulf Coast University in the United States.
Reflecting on the achievement of being among the world's top universities, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz, the Rector of AGU, emphasized the University's commitment to education, research, and contributing to society since its establishment. He also stated, "We have become the youngest and leading university in the world in terms of making a positive contribution to society, which is the most important distinguishing feature of new generation universities, in addition to education and research."
Rector Yılmaz also expressed satisfaction in AGU's presence among Türkiye's and the world's best universities, noting that AGU shares the ranks with prestigious and successful national institutions like ITU and METU, and globally renowned universities such as MIT.
