This September, the Abdullah Gül University attended the 2017 edition of the yearly EAIE Conference and Exhibition (Europe’s largest Education Event, 2nd in the World), this time in Seville, Spain.
This event marked AGU’s third consecutive participation in EAIE, after Glasgow in 2015 and Liverpool in 2016.
This year’s edition, organized under the theme “A Mosaic of Cultures”, welcomed around 6500 participants from over 90 countries.
Turkey alone had close to 250 participants and many of the country’s universities were represented; a good example of Turkey’s involvement in international higher education and of its intent to further develop connections overseas.
The Abdullah Gül University was represented by the institution’s Head of the International Office, Mr. Emeric Abrignani. and by our Erasmus Institutional Vice-Coordinator, Mrs. Nimet Bulut.
During their conference week, the pair had the opportunity to meet again with many existing partners to discuss ways of strengthening and expanding our collaboration using programs like Erasmus+.
Emeric and Nimet also met with one of our more recent partners, VIT University (one of the best private higher education institutions of India), in order to exchange the signed exchange agreements in person.
Among other events, they also attended the QS Graduate Employability Rankings Launch and Explanation of Methodology event. During this launch ceremony, they took part in the following sessions:
- International Employment Outcomes- A National Study
- Employers + Universities – Essential Partners for Employability Success
- Case Study & Dialogue: Airbus and University of Seville – A Model of Industry / University collaboration
The “Interactive Panel and Workshop: Choosing the right partners and bringing partnerships to life” was also joined by our two representatives.
Overall they report that EAIE 2017 was a good event, as well as a very crowded one, as two big halls were filled with country pavilions and stands of 100s of institutions!
This week, rich in encounters and activities, will hopefully lead to new long-lasting and fruitful cooperations; it has certainly helped consolidate our existing connections!
We look forward to joining EAIE 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland!
