Abdullah Gül University (AGU) provided its students the opportunity to receive an international diploma (BTEC HND) with an agreement with Pearson, one of the largest educational institutions in England. AGU became the first state university in Turkey to make an agreement with Pearson.
Thanks to the international diploma (BTEC HND) agreement made by the Business Administration department, students will be able to obtain a second undergraduate degree from well-known universities in countries such as the EU, USA and Canada, especially the UK. Students with an HND diploma will be able to earn a second undergraduate degree by studying only one more year at elite universities.
Aiming to provide students with a comprehensive and insightful program that brings together high-level skills and competencies in the discipline they are interested in, the HND diploma will increase the recognition of Abdullah Gül University in the field of international higher education, helping students achieve their career goals and increase their employment skills for a competitive international job market.
Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz, at the information meeting held at the Sümer Campus Conference Hall about the agreement and diploma program, said that the world is moving towards a different system where a diploma can be obtained when the total credits are reached by collecting loans from different universities, different countries and even non-university institutions.
Expressing that this system is accelerating and becoming widespread, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz gave the following information to the students:
“In your future career, perhaps the total prestige, diversity, dive and meaning of the institutions from which you have collected these credits in different geographies will be more evident than the prestige of the university. There were always signs of it. There were Erasmus programs, there were other exchange programs, there were similar processes. Now it's accelerating. It is within this framework that I see the program carried out jointly by the Pearson company and our university, and which will still be promoted today. That's why I support it so much”.
Yasmin Pitter, Pearson UK Office Deputy Director of Higher Education Qualifications Department, stated that this program is accredited and approved by which institutions in England, and said that with this document, students can also find the opportunity to work in their own field in certain sectors.
Pitter stated that the system is recognized at the level of the world's leading companies and governments in about 50 countries, and that the world's leading companies such as Amazon, BMW and Emirates accept this program as a qualification.
Pearson Turkey Director, Cem Sezer, said in his speech that this diploma program is widely known in England, and that it is already a world-renowned brand as a program that is a part of the British education system.
Sezer, who made a presentation introducing the program,
This program is an important tool for students and graduates to increase their opportunities abroad, both within international companies and international universities. Approximately 500 thousand people a year are included in this system in England and between countries that have good relations with England. The system is almost new in Turkey. We have already started the first process with AGU and it was the first accredited program in our Business Administration program.”
At the meeting, Sezer and AGU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Erk Hacıhasanoğlu answered the students' questions.
