Abdullah Gül University (AGU) has earned another international success and become the only Turkish university to be placed, for three consecutive years, in the 101-200 range of the University Impact Ranking of Times Higher Education, one of the most prestigious higher education ranking organisations.
AGU was listed among the world’s most successful universities in this ranking, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), in which, 1240 universities from 98 countries participated.
AGU is the world’s youngest university in the top 200, and the Turkish university with the best score and rank.
AGU obtained its best scores in the following SDGs: “1-No Poverty (40th in the world)”, “11-Sustainable Cities and Communities (45th)”, “13-Climate Action(54th)”, “7-Affordable and Clean Energy(67th)”, and “17-Partnerships for the Goals” (79th).
AGU improved its last year’s performance by increasing its score by 8 points, thanks to numerous successful societal impact activities and projects that the university organised, despite the many crises the world has faced.
This new international recognition reflects the great emphasis placed by AGU on “Societal Impact” since the university’s establishment in 2010. It also echoes AGU’s commitment to meeting the United Nations SDGs, and relentless dedication to achieving all 3 University Missions: Education, Research and particularly “Societal Impact”, the cornerstone of the “AGU New Generation University Model”.
AGU Rector Prof. Sabuncuoğlu thanked all AGU members and collaborators for their contributions to this major accomplishment, which will serve as a milestone on AGU’s road to achieving its ambitious objectives: “Seek solutions to global challenges and develop citizens able to positively impact our global societies”.
