RESIDENCE PERMIT - First Time Application

All international students need to apply for a residence permit at the Kayseri Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. You have one month after coming to Turkey to apply for a residence permit.

The validity of your residence permit cannot exceed the date of expiry of your passport. Therefore, before coming to Turkey, please check that you have a sufficiently valid passport (or plan to renew your passport in Turkey or, in some cases, back in your home country; after your enrollement at AGU).

The application process is as follows:

  1. Fill the online application form here (link). Please find here (link) a guide on how to apply online.
  2. Pick a day for your individual appointment (please select the earliest available date, starting from 2 weeks after your arrival in Kayseri) and print your filled application form.
  3. If possible, please make sure to pay the Residence Permit fee (58.50 TL in September 2016) via the online system. Print your payment receipt*.
  4. Come to the Abdullah Gül University and complete your registration (please read the information about the Diploma Equivalency, required for registration).
  5. Collect all necessary documents (Filled online application form, payment receipt, 4 ID photos, passport, student certificate, accommodation letter)
  6. Fill the online application form here (link). Pick a day for your individual appointment and print your filled application form.
  7. Go to your individual appointment at the Immigration Office**
  8. Submit your Health Insurance certificate; either from the State Health Insurance, SGK (around 620TL, more info here (link)), or from a private company
  9. Finalize your application at the Immigration Office and wait for your Residence Permit card to arrive via postal service (it will cover 1 to 4 years)

Students whose residence permit has expired must extend it within maximum 15 days or leave Turkey. In case of an address change, the students should inform the police within 48 hours. There should be no erasures or scrapes on the residence permit. In case of loss, the Turkish National Police/ Foreigners Unit should immediately be notified.

*Students who are not able to pay online should pay in cash at the Kaleönü Tax Office in Kayseri before going to their appointment at the Immigration Office. Tax Office Address: Kaleönü Vergi Dairesi, Tekin Sok. No:8, Kocasinan / Kayseri

This residence permit is issued for educational purposes. Students who wish to work may do so by obtaining a work permit. However, for undergraduate students, the right to work starts after their first year of education and may not be more than twenty four hours a week. This residence permit does not make the parents and other relatives of the student eligible for a residence permit.

We would like to remind you that it is your responsibility to be aware of and act according to these rules and regulations. Please pay attention to these in order to avoid any serious legal problems and financial penalties in the future.

Legal action is taken against students who do not follow the procedures explained above.
